A pretty impressive crop of flicks this year I thought, but there were only a couple that I can say I really loved. If you agree or disagree with our ranking, tell us about it. It's also fun to know that someone found a movie through this list that might not have ordinarily been on their radar. Additionally I'll mention that a few of these you might have seen on previous years' lists...those are movies I saw at a festival, but they just gained a wide release this year. As usual, the same caveat applies this year: These are just ranked in the order of my enjoyment of the film, not the quality of the film. And again, just because a movie is ranked low doesn't mean I didn't like it (in fact, the only films I didn't like were the bottom 10 or so). I am just selective about what I see...I try only to watch films I know I'm going to enjoy.

Eric, I saw that you've seen my film, Circle the Wagen, & that you've ranked it higher than Inside Llewyn Davis, which is a great compliment! (we actually got a better audience rating at Austin Film Festival too, which I couldn't believe!)
Which festival did you see it at?
Thanks very much,
-=Charlie
Hi Charlie,
I just saw your comment. How cool! You might have guessed that I saw your film at the Austin Film Festival. I guess there's just something about your dogged determination and weird adventures that struck a chord with Austinites. I have recommended it to lots of my friends, including a friend of mine in Kansas who bought a 1950s Memphis City Bus from a junkyard in Austin, drove down with his brother and got it running. They then drove it to their parents' house in Arkansas and there it sits. One day, he hopes to get it to Kansas where he is in the process of turning a 30,000 sqft, 3 story, 100 year old grocery warehouse into his home. You and he are cut from the same cloth.
THAT would be one fantastic home. And yes, I'm jealous.
Thanks for writing back, Eric. AFF was a GREAT experience for us & we actually went back about 5months later to screen for Whole Foods mega convention. No place like Austin.
Thank you for your compliments. Your friend will be happy to know that we're on track to be released online (Netflix, iTunes, etc) in July & on DVD in August. Befriend me on Facebook if you'd like. And then I'd like to befriend your pal & check out pics of his home transformation!
Thanks again & best!
