The Handmaiden – Chan-wook Park made a movie that exceeded expectations. Gorgeously shot and provocative in all the right…and wrong ways.
Kubo and the Two Strings – So much magic. Story, action, humor and style all work.
Fences – Viola Davis acts the shit out of this movie.
Moonlight – Hit me in the feels in a way I wasn’t expecting.
Tony Eardman – Walks a fine line between being too serious and funny. It’s a bit long though.

I wish I had found time for Popstar. I heard it was really funny. I also regrettably missed A Monster Calls and American Honey. It's pretty amazing that we only saw 24 movies in common. I think you would like Lion, Swiss Army Man, and 20th Century Women.
